# Brampton Industrial Chiller Plant Legionella Retrofit

A process cooling tower brought back into a documented legionella control program, with new fill, new drift eliminators and automated treatment, done inside a one-week plant shutdown.

The Challenge

## What the Building Needed

The tower had heavy scale on the fill, damaged drift eliminators and manual chemical dosing with patchy records. The plant needed a defensible legionella program and could only shut down process cooling for one week.

Our Approach

## How We Did It

1.  01 Planned the full scope before the shutdown so parts and crews were on site day one.
2.  02 Removed and disposed of scaled fill, cleaned and disinfected the basin, and installed new fill and drift eliminators.
3.  03 Installed automated chemical and biocide feed with conductivity control.
4.  04 Set up routine sampling and a written records binder for the tower.

Results

## Measured Outcomes

-   Retrofit completed inside the one-week shutdown
-   Clean first sample after restart
-   Written legionella control records kept per tower
